Neelavarna — Handwoven Dongria Kondh Tribal Saree

Rs. 3,799.00
Description

There are colours that carry weight. Neelavarna is one of them.

Woven by the Dongria Kondh tribe of Odisha's Niyamgiri hills in deep royal purple, this saree is their most celebratory. The body shimmers — not with print or dye, but with tiny mirror embellishments scattered across the surface, catching light with every movement. The border carries the tribe's signature gold zigzag triangles on a pink-purple ground, wider and bolder than usual. And the pallu opens in full ceremonial colour: mustard gold, teal and blue in layered tribal bands with arched motifs, ending in a row of purple pompom tassels that match the body perfectly.

This is the Dongria Kondh's festive voice. It is loud, it is proud, and it is absolutely beautiful.

The Dongria Kondh have woven their world — their sacred hills, their forest, their ceremonies — into their cloth for generations. Every triangle in the border, every arch in the pallu, carries meaning older than any written record.

This is not a saree you buy. It is a saree you are entrusted with.

Only one piece available.
