Rekha — Handwoven Jamdani Saree

Some things are made line by line. Rekha is one of them.

The body of this saree is covered — entirely, from edge to edge — in thousands of tiny red diagonal strokes, woven thread by thread into the cream cotton on the loom. This is not an embroidery. This is not a print. This is allover Jamdani — one of the most demanding forms of the craft, where every motif is formed while the fabric is being made. To cover a full saree body in this way takes days. The result is a surface that shimmers and shifts as you move, catching light differently with every step.

A bold red border runs the full length with crisp white stripe detailing. The pallu shifts dramatically — from the delicate cream-and-red body into a full red field with horizontal white stripes. Red pompom tassels finish the edge.

Jamdani is recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This piece represents it at its most patient and precise.

Care

• Dry clean recommended for the first wash given the density of the allover weave
• Subsequently: hand wash separately in cold water with mild detergent
• Do not soak — Jamdani is delicate
• Dry in shade, do not tumble dry
• Light iron on reverse side
